Anonymous lottery claims bank issues

Banks have never liked the method required by the Ohio Lottery Commission to claim lottery winnings anonymously. Each bank I walk into with an anonymous lottery claim, I am met with both intrigue and suspicion. Thay are fascinated by the amount of money involved with lottery winnings, but they all want to review the paperwork for several days, some more than a week, before they decide if they will accept the money or not. They all appear to be suspicious of multiple trusts even though these trusts are completely valid and comply with the Ohio Lottery Commission guidelines. I have also run into banks where I have previously deposited anonymous lottery claims, but the banks have since changed their policies. I have seen bank managers with a “check list” from their corporate headquarters. If the trust does not fit into their check list, they will not open the account. The essential problem is that when they formulated their checklists, they were not familiar with the procedure to claim Ohio Lottery winnings anonymously. As such, many banks refuse to handle these transactions. I try to use banks preferred by the winners but that does not always work.  Fortunately, I have an established relationship with some local banks to get this done for my clients on a regular basis.
